Chuka Umunna

Umunna has been Labour MP for Streatham since 2010. During his time in office, Umunna has argued for increasing devolution to the UK’s regions, suggesting that the House of Lords be replaced by a senate-like setup where major regional leaders can decide on national issues. Since joining the Independent Group, Umunna released a 50-page policy pamphlet in a ‘personal capacity’, where he described, reinstating maintenance grants and means-testing tuition fees, introducing a national citizen service for young people, ending PMQs and implementing a less ‘adversarial’ horseshoe-shaped debating chamber, and renationalising vital public services.
