Joan Ryan

Ryan was Labour MP for Enfield North, from 1997-2010 and from 2015 to present. While not serving in Parliament she remained closely engaged in debate, becoming deputy campaign director of the NotoAV campaign in the 2011 Alternative Vote referendum. During office, she drew attention to the financial difficulties of ‘supplementary schools’, which provide additional cultural teaching to be taken alongside mainstream schooling and campaigned for the government to give them greater funding support.
