Mike Gapes

Gapes, formerly Labour MP for Ilford South, was involved in Labour student politics soon after graduating from Cambridge, serving as chair of the National Organisation of Labour Students and then as student organiser of the Labour Party. Although perhaps most famous for his expostulation of the consequences of Brexit for the production of Baileys, Gapes has been a supporter of Kurdish rights and has defended recent attendance on government delegations to Saudi Arabia, saying that dialogue is the only way to “facilitate a political process”.
